limited-edition–20x16inches–shipwreck

20 x 16 inches, limited edition, signed photograph of a shipwreck on a stormy day. The ship has deteriorated to it's basic structure. The image is two tone: blue and pink. I took this photograph while visiting Heron Island which is on the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland Australia and was lucky to be able to capture a bird sitting on top of the shipwreck/breakwater. The shipwreck is used as a breakwater for Heron Island in Queensland. HMCS (later HMAS) Protector, was commissioned and purchased by the South Australian Government in 1884 for 65,000 pounds. She served in the Boxer Rebellion, WWI and WWII. In July 1943 the US Army requisitioned her and on her way up to Papua New Guinea she collided with a tug boat off Gladstone (Queensland). She was then purchased for ten pounds and sunk off Heron Island as a breakwater.
